Merkury Innovations are designers of personal electronics and accessories that combine technology, aesthetics, and value. However, they recently debuted its new Geeni line of smart home products at the annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

For the last few years, the IoT and smart home conversation has centered around pricey gadgets for the high-end crowd—in part, because that's where the money is, and in part, because that's where innovation always begins.

But anyone that attended the CES event would have noticed that smart home gadgets are no longer for the rich only—with no better example than Geeni, the brand-new line of smart bulbs, cameras, and power solutions, all controlled through one unified, cloud-based app, and ranging from $19.99 to $89.99.

Geeni bulbs and plugs will also be Alexa-compatible, allowing voice control using Amazon Echo, with additional integrations forthcoming. The Geeni line will start shipping to homes around America in Q1 of 2017.

I talk to Sol Hedaya, Category Manager at Merkury Innovations to find out more.
