Many will know RR Donnelley (RRD) as the company that prints the phonebooks. However, RRD understood that the world is quickly evolving, which is why they evolved their business from phonebook-printer to a full-blown marketing solutions company that helps much of the Fortune 500 create, manage, deliver, and optimize their multichannel marketing.

In fact, RRD was recently ranked at #8 in the U.S. Ad Age Agency Report. Here in 2019, RRD is a leading global provider of multichannel solutions for marketing and business communications.

With more than 50,000 customers and 43,000 employees across 34 countries, RRD offers a comprehensive portfolio of capabilities, experience and scale that enables organizations around the world to effectively create, manage and execute their multichannel communications strategies.

Whatever the medium, message, size or screen, RRD is connecting your brand to your audience with an entire spectrum of integrated services and technology.

I wanted to learn more about how RRD is using its deep industry knowledge and broad range of capabilities to help its clients better connect with their customers, from marketing programs that generate new customers to critical business operations.

Doug Ryan, president of Marketing Solutions at RRD joins me on my daily tech podcast to share the story behind RRD’s evolution to a top agency and what a successful marketing program looks like in 2019.

Doug leads RRD’s Marketing Solutions segment, which leverages an integrated portfolio of data analytics, creative services and multichannel execution to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that drive marketing ROI.

Doug is responsible for RRD’s direct mail, in-store marketing, digital print and digital solutions businesses. Doug joined RRD in November 2017. Prior to joining RRD, Doug served as President, North America, of Digitas, digital pioneers in one-to-one marketing. Doug was at Digitas for almost eight years, where he grew the P&L by $500 million.
